Global Districts
Localised and Informal Critical Global Citizenship Education for Wider Inclusion and Engagement of European Youth in Local and Global Challenges
The "Global Districts" project aims to create a more inclusive society at the local level and to foster a stronger sense of shared responsibility for local and global sustainable development while addressing global challenges. This project is particularly aimed at young people (special emphasis is placed on girls and women) who have fewer opportunities to participate in development education programs, especially in rural areas. Through specific activities, young citizens will expand their knowledge and develop skills to combat global inequalities and actively engage at the community level in local and global sustainable development.
Project activities
As part of the project, methods and actions are being developed that are specifically tailored to the requirements and needs of young people and organizations in rural areas. These include:
• Creating educational material and guidelines on Global Citizenship Education
• Joint development and implementation of youth-led community projects
• Creative, interactive educational activities, such as using casual learning educational installations
• Workshops, training sessions, events, debates, etc., on intersectionality and gender equality
• Continuing education, subgranting for other groups, organizations, and those active in the educational sector
• Advocacy at local, national, and EU levels to promote non-formal education
