Hocketse mal anders – development education at traditional village festivals

Hocketse mal anders
Traditional village festival

Within this project, finep used the traditional village festival (or ‘Hocketse’), which is one of the most important dates of a village year, as a place for innovative development education. The project aimed at presenting information on sustainability and food in an inspiring way. It showed how consumption of seasonal, regional, organic and fair trade products could make a difference. Moreover, it gave advice and practical tips on how to consume in a more sustainable way.

Together with the organizing committee of three local village festivals in Baden-Württemberg, we have developed innovative educational tools and material on Global Learning: beer mats, fabric bags, tissues, wheels of fortune, a path to walk barefoot, energy balls as a snack, cardboard stools, XXL-Jenga and XXL-Connect 4. The main focus was on Fair Trade products, as well as regional food.
