The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) has been promoting cooperative social entrepreneurship since 1895 and today unites around 300 cooperative organisations from almost 100 countries under one roof. The global program “People-centred businesses for sustainable, democratic, and inclusive development” is implemented by a separate regional office on each continent. This requires a monitoring and evaluation system that can be applied decentrally and at the same time enables a global overview to be obtained promptly.
finep has already supported the organisation during the application process and the project start. In a joint reflection with those responsible at the organisation, the impact matrix and its indicators were analysed and the guidelines for the M&E system were defined. Subsequently, finep developed a comprehensive Excel-based tool that systematically records the progress of project activities and indicator achievement in each regional office and automatically consolidates the data into a joint report. The programme consortium’s M&E experts were then trained in the use of this tool.
