From April to June 2024, I had the chance to do my internship at finep. During these three months, I got to work on a variety of projects, which gave me a great insight into the work of an NGO.
I especially enjoyed setting up exhibitions and helping organize events. It was so rewarding to be on site, lend a hand, and talk with participants. My personal highlight was our international project meeting – from planning to implementation, it gave me valuable experience in organizing events. The open and welcoming finep team made it easy for me to feel at home from day one. They encouraged me to be creative and take initiative. My three-month internship at finep in the early summer of 2023 went by far too quickly. This was partly due to the great people in the team that I got to know and partly due to the varied projects that I was able to gain an insight into.
During my internship, I gained a lot of valuable experience and learned so much about education for sustainable development, global learning, and key topics like conscious water use, the climate crisis, and its global impacts. I also got to take part in exciting activities like the “Fair Handeln” trade fair in Stuttgart and the regional development policy conference in Karlsruhe, where I met other stakeholders and learned about their work.

My voluntary ecological year (FÖJ) at finep was full of exciting experiences and a wide range of tasks – and I really enjoyed all of them. Most of all, I loved being part of this amazing team!
I was able to take part in numerous events, design exciting tools myself and also get involved as a speaker in the FÖJ beyond my working hours at finep, for which I am very grateful. It was a great year and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys dealing with our topics and is interested in project work in the field of education.

I started my internship at finep in July 2023 and quickly felt like part of the team. This was due to the great team spirit and the way interns are integrated.
I was welcomed as an equal and trusted with a wide range of tasks. I had the freedom to try out lots of different things, especially in social media. But I wasn’t just in the office – I also joined events like the Obstwiesenfestival in Ulm and a workshop in Heidelberg. I even got to help set up casual learning tools, for example at the BUGA in Mannheim. An incredibly rewarding internship with a wonderful team!

My internship starting in November 2023 was a time spent with a great team and full of diverse and interesting tasks. I quickly felt at home at finep and was always able to contribute my own ideas and opinions.
The varied work included writing texts, setting up and dismantling educational exhibitions, designing educational tools and creating social media posts. I was able to take on tasks in several projects and learn what can be involved in such an educational project and how the processes can work. The internship was a great opportunity to gain an insight into the world of an NGO that deals with sustainability and global justice through projects and commissions!

My internship at finep from January to March 2024 was a truly enriching experience and gave me my first real insight into the world of NGO work.
During my time at finep, I had the opportunity to actively participate in various projects, including the development of casual learning tools. My highlight during this time was the Young Congress in February 2024. From the planning to the implementation of the congress, I was able to gain valuable experience and, for example, independently coordinate the Market of Opportunities. Thanks to my great colleagues, I was integrated into the work processes right from the start and immediately felt like part of the team.

During my three-month internship at finep, I had the wonderful opportunity to gain valuable insights into the work of an NGO. Because finep is a relatively small organization, I was able to get involved in many different areas and experience the variety of its activities.
The atmosphere in the office was fantastic – I was warmly welcomed as part of the team right away, and thanks to the open environment, I could always ask questions. I felt very comfortable from day one and took away only positive impressions from my internship. A personal highlight was looking after the cartoon exhibition at the “Kino auf der Burg” in Esslingen. After work, I even got to stay and watch the movie that was shown that evening for free. From October to December 2024, I did my three-month internship at finep and gained exciting insights into the work and projects of an organization committed to education on the environment, global justice, and sustainable development.
What I particularly appreciated at finep was that I was actively involved in almost all ongoing activities and EU projects right from the start. I was given a lot of trust so that I could take on tasks independently – such as writing a report – and at the same time contribute my own ideas to the design of educational materials. My highlight was the many events I was able to take part in and contribute to. Whether it was the DEAB Autumn Conference, the ESD Network Forum, the Future Congress or the LAK Annual Conference – each of these events gave me valuable insights into development policy work and the network in Baden-Württemberg. I particularly appreciated the open, warm and appreciative atmosphere in the finep team. I felt comfortable right from the start and was able to approach my colleagues at any time with questions or concerns. But it was also the little things that made my time at finep so special: shared lunches, inspiring conversations, and of course the table football matches. My internship at finep gave me a deeper understanding of global learning and education for sustainable development (ESD), and helped me grow both professionally and personally. I’m very grateful for this enriching time.”

My three-month internship at finep was a very instructive time. Thanks to the communicative and open working atmosphere, it was possible to quickly integrate into the team and be involved in a variety of tasks by my colleagues.
From research work to taking part in a roundtable event, from developing a casual learning tool to everyday office tasks – there was always plenty of variety. And that didn’t mean confusion, but rather the chance to gain hands-on experience in many different areas. That’s why I can only recommend doing an internship at finep! Oh, and before I forget: a round of table football at lunchtime is still the best way to boost your mood!

I started my internship at finep at the beginning of 2025 and felt really comfortable right from the start. The team welcomed me straight away and always encouraged me to ask questions.
I gained fascinating insights into the day-to-day work of an NGO and got involved in many different areas. For example, I helped develop and design a casual learning tool, created my own Instagram posts, and researched topics such as gender equality in relation to soil. One of my absolute highlights was taking part in the roundtable – it gave me the chance to experience finep’s work first-hand. And of course, the lunchtime table football matches were another highlight of the week – they brightened up the office routine and created such a good vibe. I learned so much during my internship and can highly recommend it!
